EV Charger Installation in Toledo & Northwest Ohio

We install the circuit and the equipment: the charger that came with the car, one you bought separately, or a commercial unit for a parking lot or fleet yard. Residential and commercial both, from a single garage outlet to multiple ports at a business.

What a Level 2 install involves

Most of the work happens between your electrical panel and where the car parks. A Level 2 charger gets its own dedicated circuit, so the first thing we do is look at the panel and figure out whether there is room for it.

The visit runs in this order:

• Panel assessment. We open the panel, look at what capacity is already spoken for, and check whether there is space for a dedicated circuit at the amperage your charger calls for.
• Route planning. We walk the path from the panel to the parking spot with you and agree on where the unit goes. A garage wall next to an interior panel is the short version. A detached garage, a finished basement in the way, or a parking pad on the far side of the house is a longer run.
• Running the circuit. We pull the new circuit, secure the conductors, and land the breaker in the panel.
• Mounting and commissioning. The unit gets mounted at the height you want, connected, powered up, and tested with an actual charging session. Hardwired or plug-in receptacle, whichever your charger uses.
• Permit and inspection. We handle the permit and meet the inspector. There is nothing for you to file.

If we find the panel is full, we will tell you that before any work starts, along with what it takes to make room.

What it costs

A typical Level 2 charger installation runs about $750. That figure assumes a panel with spare capacity and a reasonable run from the panel to the charger location.

Two things move the number:

• Distance from the panel to where the car parks. A charger on the other side of the garage wall from the panel is the low end. A detached garage, an outdoor parking pad, or a run through finished space costs more, because it is more material and more labor.
• Whether the panel has room. If there is no spare capacity for the new circuit, we deal with the panel first. Upgrading a 100 amp panel to 200 amp runs about $5,200, and that is a separate piece of work from the charger itself. See electrical panel upgrades.

We look at the panel before quoting, so the number you get accounts for what is actually there. A standard service call or diagnostic visit is $180.

Commercial and multi-site EV charging

Commercial EV charging is a different problem than a garage in a house. There is more distance to cover, the parking layout decides where the units can go, and the install usually has to happen without shutting the business down.

Our commercial customers include restaurants, medical offices, small businesses, and manufacturing facilities. We travel the I-75 corridor from Toledo toward Dayton, so a business with locations in more than one town can use the same contractor for all of them rather than sourcing a new electrician in each market.

Commercial EV work we take on:

• Employee and customer charging in existing lots, including trenching or conduit runs out to islands and light poles
• Multiple ports fed from one distribution point
• Fleet and service-vehicle charging at a yard or shop
• Staged installs where the ports go in over several visits to keep the lot usable
